Dubbo born artist moved west of Bourke with her family, as a young child to their property on the banks of the Darling. Growing up there and later working in the town prior to marrying into a local grazing family. Along with her husband Gary they reared two daughters and ran a successful enterprise from their property, ”Ballycastle” and later ‘’Akuna’’.

After selling off their property in far western NSW they moved to Dubbo where Polly’s painting continued to develop and her art world grew after owning a gallery for several years. In recent times they moved to the Nth Coastal town of  Forster, spending time travelling and on her passion, which is painting.

Polly has been painting since 1980, but nurtured a strong interest in her creativity as a young child, when she received her first box of paints.

Winning a scholarship to Mitchell School of Arts Bathurst, gave Polly insight into her world of art, continuing over the years to study with many professional artist, allowing her own contemporary style to mature.

Inspiration comes from many sources and childhood memories. Polly’s free style and love of bright colour enhance the subjects she chooses to bring to life. Whether it’s a race meeting, flowers or a landscape. Her environment overflows with colour that is reflected in her paintings.

Her works has been recognised by winning awards and holding many successful exhibitions, and are represented in rural, regional, metropolitan galleries and showing actively in high profile Art Shows. Many of her works have found their way internationally and with collections in Australia.

Statement

Polly’s work comes from with in, but is inspired by experiences. Although she uses both watercolour and acrylic, she finds watercolour is a medium both elusive and exciting.

The journey continues………….
