Barbara has a profound love of colour and an ambition to depict simple subjects or scenes with a vibrancy and life otherwise unnoticed. Barb hopes to evoke emotions of wonder and interest, a feeling of drawing the viewer back to the work to devour it’s vividness, almost touch it’s warmth whilst projecting undertones of happiness. Her aim is never to just try and replicate a photo or subject, but rather to enhance it’s natural beauty and show you how it is seen through her eyes.

The daughter of an artist father with an artist/musician brother, Barb is a self taught pastel artist of over 33 years. Introduced to this medium at the age of 14 by her highschool art teacher who encouraged her to explore with pastels and develop the style she is now recognized for. She has worked in other mediums including charcoal, oil, acrylic and water colours but always felt a love and natural, instinctual ability to work with pastel. At a young age she went on to win several community art shows as well as Commendation award at the Royal Melbourne Show. Her first pastel painting was selected to represent her municipality and be hung in Council offices for a year. After several years of not painting due to personal circumstances, she opened her pastel box again and began her journey creating pieces and selling them in print form both privately and at local art and craft markets in Victoria. Now she is focused on working solely on original pieces and is currently planning for her first exhibition in the coming new year as well as seeking gallery representation.
