Description
Alex was born in Taiwan in 1951. He graduated from a Bachelor in Chinese Medical Science in Taiwan and worked as a Herbalist and Acupuncturist for years in his home country. At the same time, Alex enjoyed his hobby in fine arts which eventually turned into a much more serious path.His whole life, Alex is a life long dedicated Buddhist. With his passion and dedication, he practiced the art of Zen with an elderly eminent Buddhist monk for an intensive learning journey for a 3 year period, full time, 24 hours a day. Subsequently, Alex gained mastery in Zen and the incorporation of Zen with all living beings and their daily lives. Alex is also a professional Chinese Calligraphy master which is interrelated with his mastery in Zen.

After migrating to Australia, Sydney in the late 90’s, Alex decided to dedicate his life in art. As a passionate artist, Alex spends most of his leisure time researching and learning from various Australian contemporary art works. He completed a four-year course Advanced Diploma in Fine Arts at TAFE Sydney Institute

Alex is an artist who is equipped with deep and rich cultural background, knowledge, along with intellectual and technical capacity. This is reflected in his artworks. As a professional Chinese Calligraphy artist, Alex was able to assimilate his oriental, Zen-based background with Western styles and create his own signature style.

He expresses the spiritual reality on the existence of human’s soul, mind and body through his works. With the exposure of both Asian and Western cultures, Alex has been reflecting his life long experiences in his works; a fusion between Chinese Calligraphy Zen inspired art and Western influenced contemporary art.
